What it is
One number to deal with customs across the EU
EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. It is the number that identifies you to the customs authorities of all EU Member States.
You need it if you import, export or move goods in transit for business: online shops shipping outside the EU, makers selling abroad, companies buying from non-EU suppliers, forwarders and couriers.
Legal basis: Union Customs Code, Regulation (EU) No 952/2013.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I already have an EORI number?+
Use the free check on this page: the Italian VAT number or tax code is enough. The check is made on the official European Commission database.
I have an Italian VAT number: do I already have an EORI?+
Often, yes. Italian businesses with an active VAT number are usually assigned an EORI number made of “IT” plus the VAT number, normally at their first customs operation. Check it here for free: if it is active, you do not need to apply.
Do you also handle EORI numbers from other countries?+
No. We only handle Italian EORI numbers (starting with “IT”), issued by the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency. For an EORI number from another EU Member State or from the United Kingdom, you need to contact the customs authorities of that country.
What is an EORI number for?+
It identifies anyone who imports, exports or moves goods in transit when dealing with EU customs authorities. Without it, shipments to or from non-EU countries can be held at customs.
Is an Italian EORI number valid in other EU countries?+
Yes: a single EORI number is valid in all EU Member States, so you do not need to register in each country.
How long does it take?+
We usually prepare and submit your application within one working day of payment. The time to issue the number then depends on the customs office that receives it.
What happens after I pay?+
You immediately receive a confirmation email with your file number. One of our staff checks your data and sends the application by certified email (PEC) to the competent customs office, together with the mandate you signed. The number is usually active after 24–48 hours (sometimes a few days longer): we check it every day and email you as soon as it is active. You can also check it yourself with the EORI check on our website or on the Italian Customs Agency website.
Will I receive an invoice?+
Yes, we issue an Italian electronic invoice. If you are a company, enter your SDI recipient code or invoicing PEC address in the form.
Can I cancel my application?+
Yes, as long as we have not yet sent it to the customs office: in that case we refund the full amount. Once it has been sent, the service has been performed and, as set out in the terms, withdrawal is no longer possible.
Are my documents safe?+
Yes. They travel over an encrypted connection and are stored in a private archive located in the European Union, accessible only to the staff handling your file. ID documents are deleted automatically after 12 months.
Could I do it myself for free?+
Yes. Applying directly to the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency is free of charge. Our price covers preparing, checking and submitting the application on your behalf.
Are you the Italian Customs Agency?+
No. EoriPronto is a private service of Pasqui Spedizioni Internazionali Srl, not affiliated with any public authority. The EORI number is always issued by the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency.
How can I contact you?+
Write to the email address at the bottom of the page: we reply on working days.
